Ahead of the awaited general elections in Imo state, leader of the All Progressives’Grand Alliance, APGA in Mbaitoli Local Government Area, and former member of the Imo State House of Assembly for Mbaitoli state-constituency,Hon.Victor Ndunagu has joined forces with the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in the state, in a collaborative effort to ensure expected victory of the PDP governorship candidate, Rt.Hon.Emeka Ihedioha at the polls.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with newsmen in his house at Owerri, last week, Hon. Ndunagu said that, having won election in 1999 as councillor for Ifakala ward in Mbaitoli LGA,under the platform of the PDP,and elected in 2011-2015 to represent Mbaitoli-state constituency in the Imo House of Assembly, he was driven by the desire to enshrine equity in the political power-play in the state, as he emphasized the urgent need to field governor of Imo state from the Owerri zonal extraction, hence, according to him, Owerri zone has been grossly marginalised in the scheme of things regarding governance in the state.
Also appealing to people of Owerri zone to rally massive support for the PDP candidate of Owerri zone extraction, Ihedioha during the Saturday, March, 2,2019 governorship election, considering his legislative experience as former Deputy Speaker, and Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, among other leadership qualities,Ndunagu maintain that “Imo charter of equity” must prevail, as he regretted that, impunity and lack of internal democracy in the leadership of Imo APGA has eroded the people-oriented(onyeaghala Nwanne ya) ideology of the party, which he noted, brought about undue hijack of the APGA in the state by
and non-party members.
Ndunagu, however, called on all APGA supporters in Mbaitoli LGA,Owerri zone, and the state to collapse into the PDP, with a view to actualising the long-awaited”Owerri Agenda”,as embedded in the charter of equity, and for the overall-even socio-economic and political development in the state, come, May, 29,2019 advent of new Democratic dispensation in Imo state.
