The gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Imo State, Sen. Hope Uzodinma has alleged that the state under Gov. Rochas Okorocha is indebted to the tune of N312billion, in addition to over 118 garnishee judgments against it.
Sen. Uzodinma made this known while addressing newsmen in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
According to the two time senator, he is not engaged in any fight with Gov. Okorocha, rather has joined governorship race to rescue Imo State from the governor and his family, saying “am not fighting with the governor, because I have just one vote just like the governor.
He said the state has borrowed N312billion from November 2015 till date with over 118 garnishee judgments against the state Uzodinma “I believe that if someone is sick and hiding it, the person will die in silence but if you speak out, then help will come to you”, an apparent call on the governor to own up to the financial position of the state.
Sen. Uzodinma disclosed that he ordinarily prefers lawmaking to governance but quickly added that the current situation of the state made him step in, to correct the anomalies by Okorocha.
“I like the business of lawmaking but the current state of Imo is giving us concerns. You saw that the Governor was bent on giving APC ticket to his son in-law but we stepped in, so our people will have a say”, he said.
He disclosed that till date, Gov. Okorocha has never called a meeting of federal lawmakers in the state saying “there has never been a forum where the governor sat the Senators and House of Representative members to discuss the state.
The APC candidate maintained that he has attracted numerous projects as a Senator, contrary to claims of Gov. Okorocha.
