Few days after the Supreme Court of the federal republic of Nigeria threw out the bid to stop Senator Samuel Anyanwu’s suit against the emergence of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Imo State, the Distinguished Senator has vowed to fight the alleged injustice to a logical conclusion.
Seeking when thousands of PDP members loyal to his political structure known as Divine Mandate Movement thronged his Amaimo-Ikeduru country home Saturday, Senator Anyanwu dismissed rumours that he had defected from PDP to another party, stating that the reported action of a group that called itself n-PDP in merging with a governorship candidate in the state has nothing to do with him in anyway.
Senator Anyanwu emphasized that he was more than committed and poised to reclaim the mandate which he claimed was freely given to him during the last Imo PDP primaries but was allegedly hijacked, adding that as a founding member of PDP, it would be unwise for him to leave the party when top leaders from other political parties were coming into PDP.
Continuing, Sen. Anyanwu who represents Imo East in the senate, told his teeming supporters to ignore parties who have been dropping his name in order to draw supporters saying that PDP needed to correct its mistake in Imo as fast as possible to avoid regrets.
He also called on his supporters to go into the town and villages to mobilize for votes for the PDP Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar on February 6, 2019 scheduled presidential election, to usher in a new, dynamic Nigeria. It was also disclosed that his matter with Ihedioha which the Supreme Court has ruled that it must be heard at the high court, would continue from Wednesday through Thursday and Friday this week for accelerated hearing.
Some of the leaders from three zones of Orlu, Okigwe and Owerri including Chief Bonni Ebili, Chief Hilary Odumukwu, Chief (Mrs) Oyibo Nwaneri, Barr. Igbokwe, Mike Ikeokwu (All Seasons) and Prof. Protus Nathan-Uzoma said Sen. Anyanwu has the capacity and competence to lead Imo PDP to victory in the 2019 elections.
According to them, Sen. Anyanwu acceptance by the generality of Imolites across the 27 local government areas and three zones of the state, was what PDP needs urgently to win back the governorship seat of Imo State.
Divine Mandate Movement supporters from the 27 LGAs were present at the meeting.
