Political leaders in Owerri zone have given full support to the candidate of Alliance of Social Democrats (ASD) Pastor Tony Mba in the 2019 governorship election in the state.
The support came barely one month to the governorship poll. Pastor Mba, an American trained computer engineering consultant received this support in a meeting attended by Stakeholders, Coordinators, Secretaries, Women and Youth leaders from the nine local government areas in Owerri zone.
Speaking on behalf of others, Prof Ezenwa Nwachukwu stated that out of the governorship candidates presented by various political parties in the state, former President of World Owerri Peoples Congress (WOPC), Pastor Mba appears to be the most qualified, assuring him of their unflinching support in the forth coming election.
He said that in as much as other individuals from Owerri Zone have indicated interest to run for the same position, there was need for them to stand behind the Azaraegbelu born American trained Computer Engineer to avoid making another grievous mistake the zone had made in the past.
Prof Nwachukwu who is a known activist made it clear that it would amount to sheer sabotage and political irresponsibility for any sane Owerri zone man not to vote for Pastor Mba, and described 2019 as a period for the libration of the zone from political marginalization.
He further called on Owerri zone leaders to continue to sensitize their people on the need to vote one of their erudite sons to the highest position in the state, saying that his emergence remains the only option that would salvage the state from political slavery.
Prof Nwachukwu expressed bitterness that the destruction of landmark achievements of previous administrations in the state by the current government was nothing but a deviation from nascent democracy to archaic personal life style, adding that all hands must be on deck to recover power from enemies of the people with a view to reviving and rehabilitating the economy.
The Mbaise born university Don therefore enjoined members of the public especially, Owerri people not to allow mischief makers to steal their votes, expressing optimism that the zone would emerge victorious if they come together to vote for Pastor Mba.
