There seems to be no end to the crisis rocking the Imo state chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC as the party in the state has commenced the process of expulsion of Gov Rochas Okorocha over alleged gross anti party activities.
The move to finally cut the Imo state governor to size in the party is being spearheaded by the disciplinary committee recently set up by the Prince Mercellinus Nlemigbo led Imo state executive of the All Progressives Congress ,APC, headed by former two term lawmaker, Hon Matthew Omegara.
The Omegara committee while recommending the disciplinary action against the state helmsman who has been having a running battle with the national party chairman of APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole said it relied on provisions of the party Constitution, citing Article 21 (A) i-vi of the of the party Constitution 2014 as amended which also made the governor’s offences punishable under Article 22 D (i) (g).
The Omegara Committee in a chat with our newsmen yesterday, stated that the committee, patiently and painstakingly examined the overwhelming evidence brought to it by Prince Ikechukwu Unegbu, including all the electronic and Media materials in evidence exposing Owelle Okorocha’s anti-party activities hence, the recommendation of his expulsion from the party.
The committee added that there were glaring evidence that the governor was openly and brazenly sponsoring, financing and campaigning for his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu who is the gubernatorial candidate of Action Alliance, AA, arguing that with the plethora of solid and irrefutable evidences against the Imo State governor it has become evident that direct expulsion from the party remains the only punishment commensurate to his gross misconduct(s).
