There were jubilations in Imo State Monday when the governorship standard bearer of Action Peoples Party, APP Sir Bruno Chidiebere Oparaocha flagged off his campaign with a road show on the streets of Owerri the state capital.
Addressing the crowd of party faithful that participated in the rally that commenced from Ulakwo, Sir Bruno promised to revamp the economy of the state in all sectors, insisting that poverty must be crushed if he wins the governorship seat of Imo State.
He described Dan Anyiam stadium as a junk yard and vowed to rebuild it to meet international standard where national and international tournaments will be held.
The youths he said will play a pivotal role under his watch as the next governor of the state, maintaining that the neglect of youths must be addressed to save them from brigandage, thuggery and other vices.
Sir Bruno, an international business man vowed that his 100 days in office will encourage in no small measure the chain entrepreneurial business mindest of the people stressing that the Igbo people are adepts in commerce and through well articulated micro financing small scale businesses will be giving a big boost.
“My 100 days in office will witness a drastic up lift in our dear state Imo. It will no more be business as usual, we are bringing to bear international best practices to improve on the wellbeing of our people. I want to take the youths off the streets and crimes, I want to make the women relevant in their homes and by so doing make marriages work. Dan Anyiam where we are now is a junk yard and as a sportsman I cannot let this place remain decrepit, I have concluded plans to make the stadium the envy of others in Africa that can host international events if I am elected the governor, every sector of Imo economy must receive positive change ranging from education to job creation” he stated.
The deputy governorship candidate of the part, Hon. Kingsley Anaele in his speech assured Imolites that light is about to shine in the state again if they vote the APP in the March 2 governorship and House of Assembly elections.
He called on the electorate to shun voting for those who promise to build castle for them in the air but should vote for young, pragmatic and brilliant men who will accomplish the desires of the people.
The state chairman of the party, Hon. Ezirim Earnest enthused that the party has the best blueprint articulated over the months to fix Imo and put the state back to work.
Hon. Ezirim said APP is the best alternative to what the state has now and that Imolites will be better for it if they come out in their number to vote for the party across board.
He described the party’s governorship candidate as a young man with the zeal and passion to leave legacies examples on the sands of time.
The immediate past chairman of artisans union in World Bank Owerri Mr. Bright Ohakwe who spoke on behalf of the union pledged their support to Sir Bruno.
The campaign train that passed through major roads and streets in Owerri retired at the campaign office of the party at Mbonu-Ojike Street Ikenegbu.
