Core stakeholders of Imo State from all walks of life on Monday, threw their weight behind the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate, Senator Hope Uzodimma for presenting what they described as a brilliant and feasible manifesto that promises to restore the state to prosperity and equity.
Uzodimma had in a colourful ceremony in Owerri on Monday presented his manifesto, titled A New Imo of prosperity and equity, to the stakeholders with a promise that equity, prosperity and rule of law shall be the order of the day in the new Imo State under his watch.
The event which was the first of it’s kind, saw core stakeholders not just from the political class alone in attendance, but also religious and traditional leaders, the leadership of the Nigeria Medial Association, NMA, Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, National Association of Imo State Students, NAISS, Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, among others.
Providing some details of the manifesto, Uzodimma said it is anchored on Reconstruction Rehabilitation, and Recovery, outline in a five point agenda
He promised to reinvigorate the civil service and ensure that salaries and Pensions are paid by the 24th of every month and to also put in place a vibrant health sector with well equipped and effective health centres in all the 305 wards in the state within two years in office.
To ensure that development trickled down to the rural areas, the APC candidate said he will restore the full autonomy of local governments as guaranteed in the constitution and hold credible elections within 12 months in office.
After his presentation, speaker after speaker from the stakeholders applauded the manifesto as brilliant and resizable acknowledging that the APC gubernatorial candidate was the first person to present his manifesto to the real stakeholders of the state, and assured him of their support.

Meanwhile the APC governorship flag bearer in Imo for 2019, Senator Uzodinma has assured of his preparedness to recover what he described as stolen assets of Imo State including government and individual’s landed property allegedly grabbed by those in government. Senator Uzodinma therefore advised civil and public servants in the state to be careful in signing anything, that has to do with sale of state-owned assets.
According to the Senator, his would-be State Economic Development and Rehabilitation Council (SEDARC) “shall under take to identify locate and recover public assets as well as coordinate a full-scale forensic investigation into the state finances and the veracity of the huge public debts estimated at over N200 billion as well establish the networth of the state government as at May 29, 2019”.
Senator Uzodinma further assured: “SEDARC shall also recover all illegally acquired private lands, estates, by government or its agents and return them to their rightful owners”.
