The SDP Governorship Candidate in Imo State, Sir OkeyEzeh, on Monday kick started his governorship campaign. The well-attended, historic even took place at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, which had earlier elicited rallies organized by thousands of enthusiastic supporters in the streets of Owerri.
Speaking after receiving his flag, Ezeh said Imo people have now found a credible alternative in the Social Democratic Party, SDP. According to him, salvation has come to Imo State after years of failed governance.
“Today, Imo occupies the top positions in almost all indices of social misery. Our State today ranks number 24 in viability index. This means that whenever States that must crumble are mentioned, Imo must be mentioned.
“So much can be done to create opportunities for our young people. The economy of Imo is deplorable. We shall introduce the Imo Tax Credit Scheme, which is an initiative that guarantees all taxpayers access to free medical care all year long.
“A lot of our people in the Diaspora need to invest their resources back home. But they are apprehensive about the fate of their investments. We have a policy known as the Imo Diaspora Investment Bond, which will harvest all investible funds in the Diaspora.
“80 percent of hotel furniture in Nigeria come from particle board, which is made of sawdust and resins. The market for this is worth 12 billion dollars. In Imo we collect sawdust and woodshavings and burn them to ashes. What Imo spends every year on Christmas trees can establish an industry for particle board and create thousands of direct employment. We shall industrialize Imo State,” Ezeh assured.
Earlier in his remarks, the National Chairman of the Party, Chief OluFalae, revealed that so many people sought the ticket of the SDP in Imo State.
His words, “The contest was intense. But we considered character, credibility and value before we nominated OkeyEzeh as the Governorship Candidate of our Party in Imo State. Imo will never make any mistake in leadership again. OkeyEzeh is the leader Imo needs today,” Chief Falae averred.
