The governorship candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Imo State, and a former two term Senator of Imo North (Okigwe zone), Senator Ifeanyi Godwin Araraume has berated the incumbent administration for running policies and programmes without human face, describing the state free education under the incumbent as a fluke.
Senator Araraume who made the observation during the formal inauguration of the state Campaign council of Araraume/Nwoga joint ticket held on the 29th of December at his campaign office in Owerri however promised, his government if elected in 2019, will give Imo State quality education, provide quality infrastructure as well as revamp all the institutions that have gone moribund that drive the economy of the state.
During the inauguration of the state campaign council, Senator Araraume announced Chief Okey Ikoro an industrialist as the Director-General of the state campaign team, but said the state will later inaugurate the LGA in similar sequence down to the grassroots.
The APGA governorship candidate, explained that the campaign council was put together by the leadership of the party in the state, noting it was all encompassing.
He assured every member of the party would be mobilized as part of his encouragement to individuals to put their best to the project to achieve the desired victory during the poll, in view of the onerous task to recovering Imo.
He reminded the party faithful who turned out in large numbers, that the state is presently going through its tough times due to alleged maladministration, but promised that APGA government when installed in 2019, will address all the challenges.
Senator Araraume presently holding a federal appointment as the South East Commissioner, in the Nigeria Communication Commission, NCC, however donated no fewer than 150 branded vehicles to his campaign structure across the state.
Those that will benefit are, 27 APGA LGA chairmen, 27 campaign council chairmen in the state, women/youth leaders, advisory council of the campaign team, support group such as Araraume Fan Club, Araraume volunteer Network each. Also the Ten federal constituencies and the three senatorial districts are among this gesture, and noted that it was in fulfilment of his earlier promise when he joined the party.
As a way to encourage them and in the spirit of the ongoing Christmas celebration, he gave each of the members a bag of rice, non cholesterol vegetable oil and cash gifts.
He further explained that every single person that works for the progress of the party would be compensated no matter how little.
Saying, “Not only you will have vehicle but a driver will be provided for you. You will also have monthly allowance to maintain it, pay the driver and fuel the engine”.
Senator Araraume noted that with the few branded vehicles that will be provided by the party’s various candidates across the state, that it was obvious each LGA would be having not less than eight vehicles in operations for the people at the grassroots to have the impact adding, “We are ready and prepared to work for victory by the special grace of God. We are ready to provide good government. We are ready to make sure that Imo State is a better place, not only for us, but for our children, grandchildren and generation yet unborn”.
He averred that the inauguration of his campaign structure, will be replicated on the 29th of May, 2019 when APGA government will be inaugurated in the state in similar manner.
He expressed confidence that his party would win in Imo State at all levels.
He emphasized that, there was no political party stronger than APGA and its governorship candidate in the state seeking for the governorship position.
Earlier in his address, the vice Presidential Candidate of APGA, Chief Jerry Chukwueke debunked the rumours that APGA was working for the Presidential candidate of another political party, but stressed that APGA was seriously contesting the presidential election slated to hold on the 16th of February, 2019. While assuring that the people that his party, will sack the APC led government at the center.
On his part, the deputy governorship candidate of APGA, Barrister, Stephen Nwoga described his boss as a man with human conscience, who feels the pulse of the people. Nwoga said Araraume would run a government of human oriented programmes for the benefit of all, while appealing to the people to work hard for the victory of the party.
In his acceptance speech, the Director General of the campaign council, Chief Okey Ikoro thanked Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, the party leadership and other stakeholders for finding him worthy to drive the campaign train and promised to stop at noting by ensuring that victory was achieved by the party in 2019. He charged his team to redouble their efforts towards achieving success.
