The 2018 edition of Emume Mbieri Cultural festival held Saturday December 29 2018, with the President General, Mbieri Nwaotuoke Union, MNU, Deacon Chuma Okwodu describing last years as a period of achievements for the clan.

Delivering an address at the event which was attended by top Imo businessmen, politicians and traditional rulers, Deacon Okwodu recalled: “The year 2018 has been good one for Mbieri Nwaotuoke Union”.

“We have used it to consolidate our recently found unity in the leadership among others”. Okwodu highlighted some of the achievements to include the appointment of a harmonized executive of the Women Wing of Mbieri Nwaotuoke Union and dissolution of all factional executives, partial reconstruction and refurbishment of Mbieri Central Dispensary, Commencement of refurbishment work on the historic Mbieri Christian Association Hall, perimeter survey of Afo Nnudo Market preparatory to its redevelopment, recovery of some of Mbieri assets including Mbieri women weaving centre and Orie Mbieri square, on-going redrafting of new by-laws for the youth Wing and Women Wing of MNU and youth wing led by Hon. Eziefule Nnadi as chairman.

The president general expressed joy that God was doing a new thing in Mbieri ancient clan: “A wind of reconciliation, peace and patriotism is blowing across our towns and villages as well as the branches abroad, protracted crises with multiple courtroom complications are being resolved with amity…”

The event which witnessed the presence of virtually all the top governorship contenders for 2019 in Imo State including Ex-Governor Ikedi Ohakim, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, Chief Humphrey Anumudu, Hon. Henry Nwawuba, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu among others, was preceded by lectures, first ever Mbieri Marathon, first ever “Odu Ezi Mbieri”, church service and fund raising for projects.

It was however, not surprising that the occasion chaired by an astute Igbo son and business mogul, Mr. Paschal Dozie who is also an inlaw to Ndi Mbieri, turned to campaign ground as top politicians in Imo used the opportunity to canvass for the huge Mbieri votes ahead of the 2019 general elections.
