Residents of Umuahia have lamented as tragic and ugly the recent incident that took place at Umuahia, the capital city of Abia state, especially at a barbing Salon, said to belong to one of the IPOB flag suppliers, Mr Stanly Irokwe, along Hospital Road, Umuahia on December 12, 2018, where three IPOB members were shot dead by the Nigeria Army.
Our correspondent reports that beyond the unfortunate, three persons who were shot and killed ,the owner of the Salon, including scores of other key IPOB members had taken to their heels for safety.
It was also alleged that the said Irokwe always permits IPOB members to hold secret executive meetings in a part of his barber’s shop underground, in Umuahia, but luck seem to had ran against him and other exco members on the fateful day when the tragic incident occurred . For that singular incident, some people were reported to have lost their lives while a few others scampered , while others were arrested and jailed by Nigeria security operatives,JTF.
It was further gathered that while the IPOB Secret executive meeting was going on in Irokwe’s barber’s Salon, a few IPOB members, numbering about fifty one ; male and female were said to have started a protest from Afara-Ukwu, the home town of the IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu,very close to Umuahia town.
The protesters , it was reported, on getting to Isi-gate,a popular roundabout in the area, were intercepted by the police who were armed to the teeth .
“The security men started encircling and interrogating them and in the course of the interrogation , one IPOB member, Mr Ibe , mistakenly implicated Mr Irokwe, revealing that a secret meeting of IPOB was holding, there and then at a part of his Barbing salon underground”, a member revealed.
It was reported as well that Mr Stanly Irokwe was accused of being one of the fellows who supplies Biafra flags to the IPOB members during their outings.
Our correspondent reported that the police had arrested all the Protesting members and went ahead to
report to the military men who were stationed at the nearby check point , they swiftly stormed Stanly Irokwe’s Barbing salon with the intention to get him and others apprehended.
The Soldiers were said to have been disappointed after the attempt to catch many of the IPOB members at the salon failed ,since they had fled, including Irokwe, who scampered for safety ,but three (3) IPOB members were said to have been unlucky, were discovered shot dead.
It was further gathered that the Joint Task Force, JTF made up of the Army and Police squad had declared Mr Stanly Irokwe wanted, accused as be one of the ring leaders of the Indigenous People Of Biafra, IPOB which the Nigerian government has ascribed as a terrorist organization.
Meanwhile, investigation reveals that the whereabouts of Ifeanyi, Irokwe,Chukwunyere,Lucky and other key executive members are not known ever since the unfortunate incident.
