Imo state Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha has suspended the state Accountant General Mrs. Stella Udogu over delay in the payment of local government staff salaries.
The Governor has also directed the secretary to the government of Imo state to appoint the most senior officer in the office of the AG as the acting accountant general of the state.
The Governor who gave the directive during the 40th anniversary celebration of the Nigerian Union Of Local Government Employees (NULGE) at the heroes square in Owerri frowned at the nonpayment of the workers’ salaries when he had since the 27th of October approved the payment of November salaries.
Governor Okorocha stated that workers welfares remains paramount to his administration adding that government would ensure that the workers were given what is due to them.
“This is Wickedness all they culprits of this act will be arrested to explain what is happening with this money; My workers of local government, they are going to pay you your salaries for this November, December and each worker will be paid extra #10,000 in addition to the interests accruable of your salaries since 27th October”.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of the most distinguished and outstanding developer of Imo state award to the Governor by the NULGE
