These may not be the best of times for Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, ex-Chief of staff Gov Rochas Anayo Okorocha’s anointed successor as speculations making the rounds have it that his next alleged preferred political party, Democratic Peoples Party, DPP, has rejected him.
Nigeria Newspoint learnt that the party’s hierarchy has turned down proposals tabled before it by the governor’s son-in-law as part of the process to defect to the party and contest the 2019 Imo governorship election on the party platform.
It was reliably gathered that the state leadership of DPP is uncomfortable with the way and manner Ugwumba Nwosu is pursuing his agenda of defecting to the party.
Sources informed our correspondent that the party leadership reportedly rejected the move allegedly on the premise that the defecting political camp wants to grab the entire structures of the party from ward to state levels, even as they are alleged to have become a sort of leprous hand which no party desirous of winning election can risk shaking.
Consequent upon this alleged rejection, the governorship aspirant and his camp were said to have quickly rushed to Action Alliance, AA with the intention of grabbing it’s guber ticket before the INEC’s deadline, which is end of today
It was not immediately clear if the alleged move to Action Alliance has been consummated given that the substitution window provided by INEC would definitely elapse today.
Also attempts to get comments from AA leadership in the state was not successful as calls put to the State Publicity Secretary of the party were not answered up to the time of going to the press.
