Some of the traders and mechanics displaced by Gov Rochas Okorocha’s urban renewal programme have expressed joy that his plot to install his in law, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu as his successor has hit the rocks.
The artisans who spoke in Owerri on Wednesday added that the crashing of the agenda is proof that their prayers and fasting against the project has been answered by God.
According to the visibly elated artisans who craved anonymity now that their prayers have been answered the onus has shifted back to them to go back to the house of God to to give Him thanks and praises for aborting the governor’s planned transfer of power to his in law.
Recalling the numerous ordeals which the governor visited on them in the past seven years, the artisans noted that they saw hell and walked through the valley of shadow of death in the hands of the governor noting that some unlucky victims of the alleged inhuman treatment could not live to tell the story.
They stated that the worst thing about the administrations alleged attack on them was that it unleashed them at critical times like Christmas and beginning of new school sessions stressing that demolishing markets and workshops at such times were clear indications that the government is anti people.
On how they have been surviving in the aftermath of the urban renewal dislocation, some of them opined that they have been surviving by God’s grace having lost all they have laboured for all their life.
They also expressed shock that after destroying their goods and even lives in the process of the touted relocation, government is yet to embark on any positive, people oriented and economically viable projects on those sites.
Continuing, the artisans said having seen their dream come true, they are more energized today and waiting patiently to see if the governor would move into another party for the actualization of the succession plot to campaign and massively vote against it during the general elections to finally bury the agenda.
