Imo State indigenes and residents alike have continued to pour out their heartfelt delight with the publication of the name of Sir OkeyEzeh as governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The people had been thrown into a state of total despair following the quality of candidates earlier produced by the other political parties. The options given to Imo people by those other parties have been described by a public affairs analyst, Mike Ugwu, as the fire, the inferno and the furnace. The emergence of Sir OkeyEzeh in the SDP has therefore come as a big relief to the people.
In a swift reaction, the Okigwe Consultative Assembly, a group of young entrepreneurs and professionals from the six Local Government Areas of Okigwe Zone in Imo State, has resolved to throw its weight behind OkeyEzeh.
The resolution was contained in a 5-point communique which was delivered by the group’s National President, Dr. Joel Nzerem, after its meeting in Ogii, Okigwe LGA, on Saturday
The communique explained that, “Sir OkeyEzeh as the governorship candidate of SDP possesses the most sterling qualities needed in the ideal governor which Imo people yearn for.
“His track record as a consummate technocrat, including his roadmap for the Imo economic regeneration of our State known as the Imo Marshal Plan (I-MAP), singles him out as the most prepared candidate to lead Imo.”
The group further stated that, “It has become imperative for us to declare our position and to guide Imo people aright, for we cannot afford to gamble with this rare opportunity to place Imo among the comity of prosperous states. We therefore direct all our members to join the SDP which has become the most credible alternative to get our State out of the doldrums.”
In a similar development, a renowned political leader in Ideato North, Chief NonsoOsigwe, has dumped the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, and has moved into the SDP in support of the governorship bid of Sir OkeyEzeh. While addressing over two thousand of his supporters in Akokwa on Saturday, the youthful billionaire decried the level of fraud, wickedness and impunity which APGA has come to represent.
He added that nothing good can come to Imo people from such a political party which could not spare even her own loyal members in her cruel exploitation. Chief Osigwe vowed to do everything electorally permissible to deliver SDP at the polls come 2019.
