The seeming unending crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress, APC in Imo state may likely shift to the Imo State House of Assembly IMHA, following indications of alleged plot by angry lawmakers to impeach Speaker Acho Ihim ,ostensibly to prepare grounds for the alleged ousting of the Governor, Rochas Anayo Okorocha.
Nigeria Newspoint learnt that the impeachment drum which vibe is still very faint is being beat by aggrieved APC second term seeking lawmakers who failed to secure second term tickets owing to the sharing of the party assembly tickets among stakeholders of the Party by the national leadership of APC.
Party sources hinted that the lawmakers are angry that contrary to assurances and endorsement of their candidacy by the governor during the primary elections, he could only secure eight tickets which cost many of them their ambitions.
It was further learnt that the remaining sixteen party tickets were shared among other stakeholders of APC in the state particularly the governorship aspirants as a measure to restore peace and bring back sense of belonging in Imo APC.
Following this ugly turn of events, the lawmakers loyal to Gov Okorocha reportedly felt shortchanged and believed to be neck deep in plots to take their pound of flesh from the governor for causing them their political future.
The group according to findings is determined to make its voice heard and barring any change of mind may activate the plot against the speaker and governor immediately the assembly resumes this week.
Nigeria Newspoint further gathered that the angry lawmakers may have reached out to the five suspended members of the House whose suspension were quashed on Monday by an Imo High Court that sits in Owerri.
According to those privy to this brewing crisis the angry lawmakers believe that if they can convince the five returnee lawmakers they would be able to establish an unassailable majority that would give the critical edge to push on with their plan.
They are also believed to be working on the premise that Gov Okorocha’s waning hold on the party in the state, especially the loss of the governorship ticket would make it easy for them to impeach the speaker given that the governor may not be able to muster the necessary support across board to stave off the plot.
