The Imo Board of Internal Revenue has frowned at the continuous disrespect and disregard to the laws guiding the establishment and operations of Driving Schools in the State by some Driving School ‘ owners.
The Chairman of the Board of Internal Revenue Pastor Dr Mrs. Henrietta Jacobs who made this known while addressing proprietors/instructors of government approved Driving Schools during a meeting she held with them said emphatically that the present administration will no longer tolerate the act of lawlessness in our Driving School standardization programme.
Pastor Jacobs insisted that hence forth all Driving Schools in the State yet to pay for the compulsory registration fee will no longer be allowed to operate in the State and no Driving School should sell driving school certificate to non-students of the school, maintaining that all applicant students must be properly registered and be sent to the VIO upon graduation for review training and State Motor Registration.
The Board Chairman described as unacceptable to importation of foreign certificates into the state, there should be no more express service in the driving schools, the standard minimum period should be maintained and all Driving School In the State are expected to submit the list of his/her driving school Instructors.
The BIR boss also disclosed that the State Technical Committee will visit offices of Driving Schools as a measure to ascertain the genuine and the GHOST ones, she charged them to take the training of students seriously for the purposes of competence and proficiency.
Some of the Driving School proprietors/instructors who spoke on the occasion expressed appreciation to the Board for coming up with measures that will ensure standardization, promising to all work in energy with the Board in her quest to curb the menace of ghost Driving School operators.
