Ahead 2019 general elections in Imoo State, the political fortunes of Gov Rochas Anayo Okorocha and his Agburuanyi group seems heading down the hill as investigation has uncovered that many more of his loyalists would soon ditch him.
Already, as precursor to the impending desertion some of his erstwhile aides and loyalists like Barr Chima Anozie(Home base) have joined the Coalition faction of APC, while some aggrieved Imo lawmakers like the Speaker, Acho Ihim, Hons Chukwuemeka Lloyd, and Ezenwa Onyewuchi, Owerri North and West, respectively are said to be on the verge of leaving after falling out of favour with the governor
Beyond these few, some high ranking members of the camp who opened up to Nigeria Newspoint on condition of strict anonymity revealed that many more dissatisfied people are getting set to dump the governor’s camp.
According to them, this movement would likely be ignited after the primary election of the party which is coming up soon.
It was also gathered that once the primary is over and the reality dawns on those who are short changed one way or the other the next option would be, defection.
Nigeria Newspoint further gathered that most of those who would be leaving are those who have tarried all these time in the hope of getting one political favour or another which unfortunately never materialized.
According to one of the sources, majority of those hanging on with Gov Okorocha and chanting Ugwumba Uche Nwosu succession song do not believe in the agenda, deep down in their hearts and once they lose out completely, will soon abandon the agenda.
When reached for comments, an aide to Speaker Ihim,Hon Ben Ilochonwu denied that his principal is planning to jump ship from the governor’s camp.
According to the Speaker’s ex-CPS and immediate past Okigwe TC Chairman, the speaker is still a strong loyalist and firm believer in the governor and would therefore remain in his camp.
The Speaker has nine(9)months to the end of his tenure as number three citizen and leader of the House if Assembly; he will like to end his tenure gloriously, he added.
