2019: Korie drums for support for Ohakim

A popular cleric in Imo State, former state chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) IMO State chapter, and founder of the Lifeline Assembly, Bishop Maxwel Korie, on Sunday called on Imo people to give former Governor Ikedi Ohakim a second chance.
The cleric made this known at the Jubilee service of the church on Sunday at the headquarters of the church located at Ohii in Owerri West Local Government of Imo State.
Preaching on the title, Fulfilling Heaven’s Mandate, the Bishop said that God is the God of second chance and that he had not finished with Ohakim. He noted that he had warned the people of the state not to make the mistake they made in 2011 by removing Ohakim but no one listened to him, but today everyone is regretting it.
He also warned that should Imo people make the same mistake again in 2019 the state will be in bondage for the next 50 years and everyone will run away because nobody will be able to live in the state any more.
“In 2011 I warned Imo people not to make the mistake they made but they did not listen. They called me a false prophet but today I am the reigning prophet. I speak not as a man but God’s prophet. If what happened in 2011 happens again, Imo people will be in bondage for the next 50 years. Everyone will run away and no one will be able to live here”, he said.
He added that “If God has chosen Ikedi Ohakim to be the Jethro that will destroy the house of adulatory in the state, God will step in and give him a second chance”.
Addressing the congregation after joining in cutting the Jubilee Anniversary cake, Ohakim promised to fight poverty headlong in the state if given the second chance.
He said: “I make a covenant today with God Almighty that if he gives me a second chance, I will fight poverty in the state. I will pay pensioners and civil servants in the state and ensure that money circulates again. I will spend the rest of my life serving God.
“Today I commit myself and Imo State back into God’s hands. I present myself wholly to God. Do with me as it pleases you. Almighty God alone sees the heart desires of every man. He alone knows my thoughts for my people and I know He will not allow the workers of iniquity overcome us a second time.
“As God, be my witness. The next four years will herald the beginning of better times for Imo State. This is my assurance “.
