Frontline aspirant for the seat of Mbaitoli/Ikeduru federal constituency in the green-chamber-National Assembly,ahead of the 2019 general election, Dr. Kemdi Opara, has appealed to journalists in Imo state to take advantage of the awaited election in demonstrating ethics and good conducts of journalism profession,by way of accurate and objective reportage of news-events.
Dr. Opara, the foremost and consistent All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA aspirant in the race for the soul of Mbaike at the federal House of Representatives, noted that,having been the race since 2007,though,denied chances of representing the people in the recent periodic elections, he remains steadfast, with the belief that consistency and goodwill brings about positive change and development.
Still emphasizing on the need for objective reportage of news-events, especially, the 2019 election, the APGA House of Reps hopeful, warned against reportage of news-information paid for, adding that, news-reportage and dissemination by journalists need not to be censored to avoid bias,distortion and defamation of character in the course of the profession.
The Mbaike-APGA House of Representatives’aspirant, who made the call during a parley he had with members of the Association of Mbaitoli Journalists in his country-home, Umuchoke-Obazu,Mbieri in Mbaitoli LGA of the state, last week, said he will partner with journalists in the propagation of objective and unbiased news-dissemination for a stronger, healthier democratic society.
Earlier in his visit during the parley, chairman of the association of pen-professionals in Mbaitoli LGA, Mr. Emeka Iwuala, said that, the group came to interface with him as a book author, writer and one of the most-qualified aspirants in the race, as well as,discuss bilateral issues of interest and other partnership.
Iwuala further stated that, considering Opara’s antecedents, the group will strengthen it’s support as soon as the aspirant clinches the APGA ticket as candidate for the election.
The group also, urged the aspirant to admit Mbaitoli journalist(s) his media-campaign team as show of solidarity with the association.
