The Imo State chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Bar Charles Ezekwem has promised all Aspirants for the various elective positions under the party come 2019 election, of an opportunity that would allow delegates cast their votes without bias and intimidation.
He made this assurance in Umuneke Old County Council Headquarter, Ngor Okpala LGA when he led the entire Imo PDP State Working Committee (SWC) on a sensitization tour to the Local Government Area.
The visit commenced with a boundary reception between Ngor Okpala LGA and Owerri North LGA in Ulakwo, where the LGA Chairman, Chief Morison Njoku and his Executive received the special visitors with a traditional kolanut.
From there, the Train moved to the premises of Hon Bede Eke, the member representing Ngor Okpala/ Aboh Mbaise Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, where the State Exco had a Town Hall meeting with leaders and stakeholders of PDP in the LGA.
Later the visitors stormed the County Council Head Quarters about 3pm where a tumultuous crowd of PDP faithful from the Eleven Wards in the LGA had waited from 10am.
After the opening remarks by the LGA Chairman, Chief Morison Njoku, the State Chairman mounted the podium, where he appealed to all PDP Aspirants to maintain decorum while canvassing for delegates, pointing out that after the primaries, the PDP would move into the main general elections, and therefore emplored for peaceful conducts by all, so that Imo PDP will move into the general election as one strong force.
He assured of a level-playing Ground for all Aspirants vying for various tickets in the party, adding that all primaries would be free and fair.
New decampees from other political parties were received. They inlcude Okenze Agwulonu (Alhaji) and Prince Chigozie Okereke who all came from All Progressive Congress, APC with over one thousand supporter.
The Aspirants contesting for various positions were present. They include Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, Prof Jude Njoku and Chief Chukwuma Ekomaru (SAN) for Governorship seat.
The House of Representatives Aspirants present include Hon Bede Eke, Chief Oji Chilaka, Bar Patrice Akwara, and Hon Mike Iheanetu.
For House of Assembly were Hon Chima Okereafor, Chief Charles Abara Kingsley Odionyenma and Elder Tochukwu Okereke.
The Imo PDP State Executive Present include, Barrister Charles Ezekwem, Chief Martin Ejiogu, Hon Ray Emeana, Hon Damian Opara, Chief Chinaka, Harry Ehebinike, Nze Law Biaduo, Arch Anyanwu (Foreign) Hon Aburi Ahanonu and Akidi. Sir Bon Unachukwu led the Owerri Zonal PDP team, which included Hon Kizito Onuoha, and Dr Pope Ekwegh from Southeast zone. Present also was Hon Chuma Nnaji
