A local government chairmanship aspirant for Oru East Local Government Area Hon. Paul Chimezie has expressed his ambition to better the lots of his people if elected as the local government chairman.
Hon. Chimezie who disclosed this during a meeting with the Orlu Zonal Congress of Journalists (OZCOJ) at his Okwuorji office in Awo-Omamma in Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State at the weekend revealed that his kinsmen recently called to him to vie for the chairmanship of the Oru East LGA, although he had vied for the position and others previously without winning.
He noted that at this point in time, it was God’s design that he would win as he hoped and has continued to nurse the ambition as a son of the soil from Ubaheze, Ezi-Awo II community in Oru East Local Government Area.
The Aba-based business man and philanthropist who is a clearing and forwarding agent acknowledged the importance of journalists in the society and his noble ambition and promised to work with the Orlu Zonal Congress of Journalists on the same page and expressed his belief on the principle of “give and take” as he charged them to help project him and his political ambition and activities to a wider and higher horizon, while he would also show appreciation.
He commended the group for forming such a credible organization, urging them not to relent or rest on their oars.
In a remark, the Director General of the Chimezie Campaign Organization, Hon. Nick Ndedigwe thanked the journalists from Orlu senatorial Zone for thinking it wise to partner with the LG chairmanship aspirant, pointing out that in everything, packaging was very important.
Hon. Ndedigwe recalled all the years of struggle of Hon. Chimezie to clinch an elective office which could not come to fruition and expressed joy however, that at God’s own time, his kinsmen have decided to make him their consensus candidate for the office of the LG chairman, come 2019, as he recalled Hon. Chimezie’s antecedents of philanthropy to schools, individuals, sports men and women and the needy, pointing out the potentials of the media to make or mar the society and individuals.
Earlier in a remark, the co-ordiantor of OZCOJ, Ambassador Ikenna Onuoha explained that the group is a body of professionals in the field of journalism and from Orlu Zone, saying that they came to fraternize with Hon. Chimezie as a son of the soil.
Ambassador Onuoha disclosed that the organization aims at promoting the welfare of members, as well as individuals from the zone who are seeking for any political or elective offices and extended the organization’s right hand of fellowship to the LG chairmanship aspirant.
In a vote of thanks, a member of the group Mr. COC Duru who is the correspondent of National Spy Newspaper and a fellow kinsman of Hon. Chimezie expressed his joy over the success of the meeting, a he eulogized Hon. Chimezie for his giant-strides in philanthropy and development of their community which have endeared him to his community.
