Before Comrade Adams Oshiomole was elected the national chairman of the ruling All Progressive Congress APC, Gov Rochas Okorocha and his camp had always declared that the first assignment he would embark on is the dissolution of the Chief Hillary Ekeh led state executive of the party and other elected officials of the party at LGA and ward on the ground that they were duly and legally elected.
According to them the new national chairman would sack the elected excos across the state and order for fresh congresses so that proper elections could be conducted for new party officials to be elected.
And many analysts had believed that yesterday’s( Tuesday’s) South East Mega Rally which was Oshiomole’s first official duty to Imo State would have provided the best platform for the making of that long awaited statement.
But, that did not happen yesterday as the national chairman who spoke for a long time failed to breath a word about the congresses which had pitched Gov Okorocha’s Agburu camp against the Coalition Allied Forces led by Senator Ifeanyi Araraume.
Comrade Oshiomole who spoke immediately after Gov Okorocha’s speech devoted the fifteen minutes or so he spent on the podium lambasting the opposition PDP and its sixteen years rule of the country.
According to him in three years the APC adminstration of President Mohammadu Buhari has been busy recovering the country from alleged PDP misrule, stressing that three years was not enough to fix the country.
By failing to make any pronouncement on the issue against the expectations of Gov Okorocha and his camp, the national may have technically endorsed the come read we and officials which emerged from it at all levels in the state.
And if this is the case it means the governor and his camp have lost the battle for the soul of the party to the Coalition Forces who have already sworn in elected officers of the party at the LGA and ward levels.
Meanwhile, Nigeria Newspoint correspondents on ground reported that almost all the heavyweights in South East APC shunned the mega rally.
Those who were conspicuously absent included Ministers of President Buhari namely,Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, Prof Anthony Anwuka, and Dr Chris Ngige.
Other appointees of the FG and topnotch personalities missing were Senator Ben Uwajumogu, Hon Emeka Nwajiuba, TETfund Chairman, Dr Orji Uzo Kalu, Chief Ken Nnamani former Senate President, Mr Old hike Osita Director General Voice of Nigeria VON, for Gov Sullivan Chime, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, Deputy Gov Prince Eze Madumere among a host other leaders of the party.
