Following the successful conclusion of the Congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at all levels as well as the National Convention, the Chairman of the party in Ahiazu LGA, Engr. Bede Opara, in accordance with the directives of the State Chairman of APC in Imo State, Dr. Hillary Ekeh, has inaugurated the LGA Working Committee (LWC) and the Ward Chairmen of his local government, advising them to go back to their wards and commence the work of deepening the party, mobilization and reconciliation with aggrieved members.
The event which took place last Wednesday in Ahiazu LGA had all the members of the LGA Working Committee and Ward Chairmen fully present.
Addressing the Ahiazu LGA Party Leaders, the LGA Chairman, Engr. Bede Opara informed his people he had joined politics to bring home to his people the benefits of his years of experience, learning and knowledge as a top Labour Leader and Senior Staff of the now Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) who distinguished himself in various capacities culminating in becoming the National Deputy President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC).
He promised that his leadership of APC in Ahiazu would bring about a change and re-position the party for greater exploits, calling for unity of purpose which he said would make them unstoppable.
The Ahiazu LGA boss maintained that the outcome of the APC Congress was a case of “no victor, no vanquished”, adding that even non-officers of the party would have assignments that would make them relevant.
He promised them that whatever was due to them would certainly get to them, just as he promised to visit all the wards soon.
Earlier in his address, Political Leader and Director-General of Peter Gbulie Foundation, Engr. Kyrian Amadi informed his people that the Ahiazu APC Chairman, Engr. Bede Opara was not a politician but some who had come to help them move APC forward in their LGA.
He called on members of the Local Government Working Committee (LGAWC) to cooperate with the party chairman, give him good advice, refer to him when necessary and for the Ward Chairmen to keep to their wards and refrain from interfering in matters concerning other wards.
Engr. Amadi described leadership as a call to service, advising them to manage their positions effectively.
The party leader also pleaded for forgiveness and reconciliation, assuring them they would serve out their tenure of 4 years.
The Secretary of APC in Ahiazu, Dr. Emmanuel Anyanwu urged the Ward Chairmen to work for reconciliation in their wards, describing Engr. Bede Opara as the new face of APC in Ahiazu LGA.
Reacting on behalf of the Ward Chairmen, Mr. Felix Nnarambia expressed the joy of all the ward chairmen to have come this far and urged anyone with an ill-mind to change now for the progress of the party.
