The Nigeria Newspoint Editor-In-Chief, Elder Lambert Ojukwu has reiterated his commitment to ensure that Imo State Journalists are highly placed in the scheme of the affairs of the State if he emerged as the Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) come 19th June 2018, being the date of the election.
Elder Ojukwu during the weekend courtesy visit of the Orlu Zone Congress of Journalists (OZCOJ) unveiled that the NUJ under his watch will be all round business circle, at such there would be time for journalists to be hanging around town without good welfare package.
He said that within the six months of his administration, he will transform the Imo State Press Centre to be conglomeration of internally generating revenues outfits which will enable the centre to function at full capacity, so that Journalists in the state will operate at easy, such that they will improve in their profession and serve the society effectively.
The Nigeria Newspoint Editor-In-Chief commended the Orlu Zone Congress of Journalists (OZCOJ) for the ability of coming together with one idea of fronting the welfare of journalists in the Zone, stating that it is profitable and also will excel, not minding that the politicians from the zone are not giving patronage to their professionals the way other zone are doing.
He advised journalists to always aim at the accomplishment of their profession both inside and outside, so that they will become political leaders in their various localities especially they should vie for political leadership and also insist that their members occupy mostly media positions in every political dispensation.
According to Elder Ojukwu who is known as OJ, which means the Orator Journalist, it is only a man with contact that should emerge as NUJ chairman so that he will be able to improve the lives of journalists but not a man without because the blind cannot lead the blind or lead the full sighted man, adding that he has the contact, and God is on his side that why he believed he will turn around the misfortunes of the profession to fortune if voted into the council come June 19, 2018. “I have a vision in the system, because the politicians makes good Journalists, thus, I promised to interface NUJ as the next chairman”.
He urged members of OZCOJ to always be looking neat and corporate dressing in order to command influence in the society because almost everyone is looking up to them as model in the society.
Earlier, the representative of OZCOJ coordinator Mr. Chuks Nwokeji stated that the association come to familiarized with the Nigeria Newspoint considering the fact that the medium has played a prominent role in the journalism of the State.
