The T.C. Chairman emeritus, Owerri Municipal Council Hon. Joseph Agor (Nze Joe) has declared his intention to vie for the Chairmanship seat under APC in the coming Local Government election.
Speaking when he submitted his form last Thursday May 31, 2018, he stated for over many years, he has been nursing the ambition of an Executive Chairman as he knows that it is a divine call by God to serve his people. He said-that he has served in Owerri Municipal Council as a Supervisory Councilor and was appointed twice on merit as T.C Chairman by Governor Rochas Okorocha.
During his tenure as T.C. Chairman, Hon Agor said he did a lot of Jobs assigned to him by Governor Okorocha reiterating that he renovated the Council which was in a total menace over years. He remarked that when he came on board as a T.C Chairman, he ensured that the Local Government got a, new look as he renovated the roof of the buildings, built new markets in Owerri Municipal including the grain market at Relief Market saying that the grain dealers are very happy now. He stressed that he renovated some old shops at the Relief Market; he also built 30 shops with toilets and water borehole at Relief Market Extension.
During his time as T.C Chairman he maintained that he strengthened ARC in Owerri Municipal Council. According to Hon. Agor, he paid the workers as and at when due, built and completed the Chapel adding that he also made sure there is sanity and security in the Municipality with the help of the Police and other security agencies.
As Executive Chairman, he promised to do more with the help of Owelle Okorocha which is why his Campaign Slogan is “Consolidation 2018” because of the tremendous impact Governor Okorocha has made in Owerri Municipal. He maintained that people can believe that before the Governor came into office, the State capital was like a mere Local Government but today, Owelle Okorocha has made Owerri as a capital of a State.
Nze Joe as he is popularly known enumerated the Governor’s numerous achievements namely the construction of ring roads (First, Second, Third, Fourth In land Roads and Akachi Road) to connect and make Owerri the capital city, Urban Renew Programme (dualization of roads), Free Education to all levels, new Transport System, Youth Empowerment among others.
He disclosed that Governor Okorocha has done more than his predecessors in achievements and as Executive Chairman, he will consolidate on the Governor’s achievements for his Campaign Slogan is Consolidation 2018. On his chances over other contenders to win the plum seat, he said it is 100% because he is loved by his people because of his good will and philanthropic life which includes giving free loans to people, paying school fees for children, helping people to start small scale business ventures, giving aids to indigent people and all these have been done for over 20 years.
As someone who is Rescue Mission Complaint, Omereoha Owerre as he is fondly called assured Owelle Okorocha that he remains his political son all the days of his life. He promised Governor Okorocha his undiluted support in his Agenda to bring Ugwumba Uche Nwosu as his successor come 2019 saying that his loyalty to the Rescue Mission government is unshakable.
