Prof. Itse Sagay SAN, Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC) has denied granting any interview with a reporter from Vanguard newspaper where he called for the cancellation of the recently held Imo ward congresses.
Sagay, who was disappointed at the fake report said from all indications, some faceless people are trying to use his name to advance their cause in the controversy trailing the election.
He said ” I have always willingly responded to requests for my views, on virtually any subject matter issue by Members of the Press. Therefore there is absolutely no excuse for a reporter to cook up a story and ascribe it to me as my views during an interview. But this is what an unnamed reporter did as reported at page 9 of the Vanguard Newspaper of Saturday 19th May, 2018″.
“My so-called “call for the cancellation of APC ward congress” attached to this letter was fake, fraudulent and dishonest. No reporter contacted me on the matter and I could not have responded to a non-existent interview”.
This sort of forgery, ultimately sours the good relationship between the press and those interviewed. I am therefore not surprised that no Reporter’s name was credited for the false interview” he said.
