In the face of the recent excruciating defeat of Imo state governor, Owelle Rocha’s Okorocha by the All Progressives’ Congress, APC coalition group at the wards, LGAs and state Congresses of the party in the state, an Owerri zone indigene based in the United States Of America, USA, Hon. Anderson Iheme, has restated his commitment and support for the endorsement of the state deputy governor, Prince Eze Madumere, as flagbearer of the party in the awaited 2019 governorship election.
Speaking in an interview with journalists in Owerri on Tuesday, Chief Iheme, native of Umuahii-Mbieri in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of the state, posited that time is due for the Owerri zone indigene, Prince Madumere, having been instrumental to the popularity and transformation prospects of the Rescue Mission Government led by Gov. Okorocha to govern the state, considering his unequaled humility and vast administrative experience.
According to him, Madumere represents and epitomises the ‘charter of equity’ which exists among the three geo-political zones in the state, Orlu, Okigwe and Owerri, adding that the deputy governor’s sense of integrity and sincerity of purpose speak volume of his utmost qualification for the seat of Imo governorship in 2019.
Also enumerating other virtuous attributes of the state deputy governor, which he said, qualifies him for the office of the governor in the 2019 election to include, respect for the rule of law and democracy, loyalty, patience, trustworthiness, intelligence, among others, Iheme appealed to the Imo APC mainstream leadership to quickly approve issuance of the party’s ticket to Madumere, as well as, give him adequate support for an anticipated victory in the awaited election.
According to him, Prince Madumere does not play ‘dirty politics’ like any other political leader in Imo state, but, an administrator with human face, whose conscious appeal to issues of good governance makes him feel the pulse of the people at all times.
He, however called on the people of Imo state to make haste and obtain their voters’ cards ahead of the election, as to enable them contribute their quota in ensuring that Prince Madumere is elected as governor of the state, come, 2019.
