In a well-attended leadership meeting of the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) in Ohaji/Egbema today, not fewer than 500 staunch members of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) were warmly received by the leaders of the APC in Ohaji/Egbema under the able chairmanship of Rev. Sympathy Emmanuel Ebomuche. The meeting which took place at the Amafor residence of one of the most tactical politicians in Imo State, Chief Goddy Esom Obodo, Who happens to be one of the arrow heads championing the re-election of the APC in Imo State had in attendance people drawn from various political class across party line.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Esom Obodo, a one time legislator, two times commissioner in the State, former OCDA chairman and one time Mayor of Orlu zone, expressed great joy over the turn out at meeting, describing it as “Divine Unification” of Ohaji/Egbema. He emphatically stated that those who have made up their minds to identify with the party have indeed taken the best decision at the right time for the rebirth of Imo State and development of Ohaji/Egbema. He re-assured everyone of transparency, equality, justice and unity within the party. He equally used the opportunity to welcome and congratulate Rt. Hon. Goodluck Nanah Opiah for taking the wisest decision so far politically at the right time.
The APC chairman in Ohaji/Egbema, Rev. Emmanuel Ebomuche in his usual manner, delightfully congratulated all the defecting/defected members of the party, and stressed that APC is a party for all. He added, nobody owns the party, it is widely open for all and sundry. And everyone has equal right in the party. We must ensure a level playing ground, he reiterated .
In furtherance, Hon. Barr. Ike Adimachukwu(ABC) stressed that this unification will engender landmark developments in Ohaji/Egbema. He further stressed that the defection of these new members to the APC will add more value to the party. He advised the old members never to panic, but to embrace the new members so that they can work together for optimal and positive results. Nobody is taking anybody’s position, he said.
Another dignitary who spoke at the event was Hon. Mrs. Obiageri Ajoku, popularly known as “Ada Ohaji”. According to her, she has been in the PDP for 20 solid years without defecting to any party. But, as politics in Imo is becoming more complex, she has got a better reason to join force with the winning team. I will like to be in the team that will produce the next governor of this State in 2019, she stated. She added, this is the only team that wins elections in Ohaji/Egbema, and I am happy to be here.
Hon. Marcel Amadioha, the current PDP chairman in Ohaji/Egbema who has just joined the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC), stated that he has no regrets in joining the winning team, a team he described as “formidable”. He expressed his heart-felt gratitude to have identified with the most suitable team for the task ahead.
Hon. Alex Ogwazuo Former commissioner on culture and tourism under Gov. Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha and one time Managing Director of the ISOPADEC also expressed his joy to see the good people of Ohaji/Egbema to decide to work in unison towards making Ohaji/Egbema our local government a better place for all of us.
