A Non-governmental Organization, the Coalition for Imo Development, CID, has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the re-orientation of Imo people towards enthronement of good electioneering process and governance.
The organization also known as Ihe Abiala N’Imo which stated this Tuesday in Owerri, disclosed that CID has carried out many operations and activities aimed at creating the needed political awareness especially about good governance. The Director General of CID Dr. Johnson Ugochukwu Ofoegbu said the NGO was more of less a welfare organization for Imolites and other Nigerians. He said they were more interested in areas such as quality education, quality health-care system, prompt payment of civil servants salaries and agricultural development.
Other areas of interest to CID include payment of civil servants pensions and gratuities, quality road construction, good security network, job creation and youth empowerment, diversification of the economy, tourism, among others.
Also speaking, the publicity secretary of CID, Prince Chidi Obi revealed that the NGO was an amalgam of several organizations of great minds noting that the people must develop the mindset to ask questions about issues of governance.
He said the organization has been holding seminars at the grassroots for the purpose of good governance adding that it has also reached out to the disabled by way of given out cash, wheelchairs, walking canes for the blind, to mention a few.
Obi also stated that CID paid school fees for some students including acceptance fees across the universities and tertiary institutions as well as donating books to some students.
On funding, he noted that CID is funded via donors and could partner individuals and groups including politicians.
