The last certainly will take a while to be heard of last weekends All Progressive Congress APC ward congress in Imo state as the accompanying ripples have consume the state police commissioner, Chris Ezike who has been posted out of the state.
The last CP Ezike was sighted in public was last week saturday when he accompanied Gov Rochas Okorocha to the house of another APC chieftain in the state, Senator Osita Izunaso allegedly in search of alleged missing congress result sheets.
There have been conflicting reports regarding the sudden posting out of the CP believed to be a strong ally of Gov Rochas Okorocha.
It was scooped from some reliable sources in Abuja that the CP was transferred allegedly on the grounds of a petition written against him by Sen.Izunaso wherein he( Izunaso ) accused CP Ezike of partisanship.
According to the sources Sen Izunaso who is also the National Organizing Secretary of APC had further alleged that the CP supervised the ransacking of his house allegedly on the instruction of Gov Okorocha.
Nigeria Newspoint was told that an angry Sen Izunaso might have, immediately after the visit of Gov Okorocha and the CP written a strongly worded petition alleging violations of his fundamental human rights as well as accusing the CP of partisanship.
Similarly, another source told our correspondent that the transfer of the CP was masterminded by the Governor who it was learnt felt betrayed that the CP did not comply fully with his dictates on the day of the congress.
It was reliably gathered that the governor was not happy that the CP Ezike openly distanced the police from last weekend’s congress brouhaha on the ground that it was an internal political party matter.
This open confession was said to have greatly embittered and embarassed Gov Okorocha who allegedly had literarily dragged the CP to Sen Izunaso’s Owerri residence, ostensibly to humiliate and possibly arrest him and other leaders of APC,opposed to the governor.
But, whatever is the case and which ever version of the transfer story is true, what has actually raised eye brows is the seeming humiliating way and manner the whole drama was unleashed.
As at the time of filing this report Nigeria Newspoint had it on good authority that Imo State Police Command seem to have two commissioners.
Mr Ezike sources said as at yesterday (Tuesday) morning resumed in his office and in his capacity as CP undertook official functions including receiving the visiting wife of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Idris Abubakar who was on official visit to the state.
While on this duty information filtered in that he has been transferred and to his greatest shock before he could get back to office the new commissioner, CP D.D Gladanchi had already resumed work.
Police sources say this is not only strange but seemingly a calculated attempt to humiliate and ridicule CP Ezike because under normal circumstances he is supposed to use some days to prepare himself and formally hand over to his successor.
So,as it stands now it can be said that the state technically has two CPs as Mr Ezike is yet to hand over to CP Gladanchi who becomes the 33rd Police Commissioner for the State Command.
