The congress which started around 10.30 in the morning at Iho Sports Stadium, Ikeduru Local Government Area witnessed appreciable turnout of All Progressives Congress, APC faithful in Iho ward. After addressing the members of APC in Iho ward, the congress proper commenced.
At the end, the 27-man ward executive that will drive the affairs of the party for the next four years emerged.
They include Mr. Maxwell Udeh as ward chairman, Chief Eddy Emeto as ward secretary, Mr. Simon Duru as legal adviser, Mr. John Mbagwu as ward auditor, Mr. Nick Ihenacho as organizing secretary while Mr. Bartholomew Ngerem emerged publicity secretary of the party.
Others were Mr. Donatus Ogumerem who emerged ward youth leader, Uche Nwokeocha emerged financial secretary, Chidi Okoro is the treasurer, Basil Ngamouchu emerged assistant publicity secretary, Mr. Ugochukwu emerged assistant welfare officer among others.
Speaking to newsmen after the congress, one of the leaders in the ward, Mr. Mike Nwokeocha thanked APC party faithful in the ward for coming out to participate in the congress despite the fact that it coincided with their market day. He encouraged them to continue to support the party as the 2019 elections draw nearer.
Nwokeocha challenged members of the party to go all out to win more people into APC as a way of preparing for the 2019 election adding that they should stand firm to defend the policies and programmes of President Muhammadu Buhari saying that Buhari’s return would pave way for a president of Igbo extraction come 2023.
They young and dynamic leader who was the former Government Liaison Officer (GLO) of Iho ward further appreciated those who lost out in the congress for sportsmanship but however, appealed to them to continue to support APC.
In his remark, the newly elected ward chairman, Mr. Udeh thanked party members for finding him worthy to serve and promised to ensure that everybody is carried along in the scheme of things.
