Imolites have descended on Gov Rochas Okorocha and his adminstration over the rousing reception accorded Big Brother Nigeria, winner saying such action smacks of celebrating immorality and vice.
The angry citizens who responded to a WhatsApp post from the Special Assistant to Gov Rochas Okorocha on entertainment, Hon Chukwunonye Irouno announcing the return of Miracle Igbokwe an indigene of the state who won the show dismissed both the big brother show as well as the reception as show of shame.
They wondered why instead of promoting excellence, innovation and creativity, and other edifying activities Imo government is rather jumping up and down singing praises for one who displayed immorality on public Television
According to one respondent who simply wrote under the name Mr Ononogbo “it is sad that our generation instead of promoting excellence in academics, education, innovation and science among our youths, we are singing praises for one who displayed immorality on public television”
Contributing another Imolite, Mr Obi Chioma queried” My brother what is edifying in this nauseating episode? No wonder many youths find no value or virtue in hard and decent work. They prefer the short cut to fame and fortune. Our governments and institutions dont care to appreciate hard and honest work”
Another contributor expressed sadness over the way and manner society and even governments now celebrate vices, corruption and immorality adding that he feels sorry for the youths because they are lost while their predicament is made worse by the insensitivity of older generations who are not helping them
In his own contribution, Chief Martins Opara alleged that the show is nothing but another way or avenue of siphoning resources.
Nigeria Newspoint recalls that Mr Miracle Igbokwe, an indigene of the state from Owerri North LGA recently won the Big Brother Nigeria reality TV show prompting the reception organized by Gov Okorocha to welcome him back.
