The Founder of ABC Transport PLC and All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA governorship aspirant in Imo State, Mr. Frank Nneji has called on the state governor, Rochas Okorocha to stop inflicting hardship and suffering on the people of the state but to formulate and implement policies that can better their lots.
Interacting with newsmen at the event marking ABC Transport 25th Anniversary held in Owerri, Frank Nnejj unequivocally decried the outrageous amount charged on commercial drivers by the state government or its agents to paint their commercial vehicles in state colours describing such act as one that is anti-people. According to him the government should formulate and enforce people-oriented policies to better the lots of the people rather than subjecting the people of the state to all manner of hardships and sufferings.
Nneji strongly believed that a responsible government can only direct the taxis/commercial bus operators to paint their vehicles the government approved colours and not seeing it as an opportunity to extort the people. He therefore called on the government to stop the exercise.
The one-time President of Owerri Chamber of Commerce who also drew the attention of the state government to the poor state of roads in the state identified the bad state of roads in the state as the cause of lack of investors. According to him ABC Transport PLC may not have gotten to the enviable height if there were no motorable roads in the state in 1993.
‘If the environment becomes conducive for investors, they will come and establish their businesses here and so doing generate jobs for the teeming unemployed youths and the economy will become strong’, he added.
Furthering the frontline guber hopeful categorically dispelled the rumour making rounds that he has an accord with Gov. Rochas Okorocha. He described the governor as one that has moral burden. According to him the rumour is peddled by those afraid of his joining the governorship race. He maintained he has never and will not romance with Okorocha.
‘We know the camp peddling the rumour. We had once caught them for their apology we would have taken a legal action against them’, he disclosed.
Responding to question on his governorship ambition, Nneji hinted that he has lived and done his business in the state for the past 35 years and as such knows the plights of the people. According to him his program will anchor on Agriculture, Economy and Sight Industry aside security, health care among others which he described as enablers.
