As the proposed July 14 local government election in the state draws closer, convener of the Imo APC Restoration Coalition and the former state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hon. Theodore Ekechi, has described the forthcoming exercise as a ruse.
Hon. Ekechi who spoke to journalists recently in an interview wondered why the governor who sacked democratically elected Chairmen under the administration of former governor Ikedi Ohakim, would in turn talk about conducting an election almost at the twilight of his administration.
He revealed that the proposed council election was a calculated attempt to shore up delegate lists in favour of his son-inlaw, Uche Nwosu, ahead of the APC primary election.
Hon. Ekechi, however called on the people of the state not to loose sight of what he called “Okorocha’s clandestine move to turn Imo as his own personal property”.
Meanwhile, co-convener of the Imo APC Restoration Coalition, Barr. Kingsley Ononuju, has stated that the group would do everything possible to rescue the APC in the state from the clutches of Okorocha’s administration.
Barr. Ononuju, who featured on a radio program monitored in Owerri, added that the coalition, together with other well -meaning citizens of the state, would join hands to stop the governor from foisting his son in-law against the collective wishes of the people of the state.
