All Grassroots Alliance, AGA, has appointed Dr. Edmund Ugorji as the national vice chairman of the party for the South East and South-South Zone.
Speaking, Tuesday in Owerri, the National Chairman of AGA Dr. Olukayode Oshiariyo represented by the zonal Secretary for South East, Hon. Paul Ngwoke charged members and officers of the party to work hard in order to sell the programmes of the party as contained in its manifesto to the public. Dr. Olukayode also urged them to de-emphasize money politics which he said could destroy the system if not checked.
In his address at the event which attracted some national, zonal, state and local government officers and members of AGA, the South East/South-South zonal Vice Chairman, Dr. Ugorji expressed joy at the new responsibility given to him and thanked the leadership of the party at the national and state levels for their support.
Dr. Ugorji explained that the logo of the party which is a dove represents honesty and truthfulness. He said AGA was poised to elect candidates who are God fearing, truthful, reliable, trustworthy and prepared to render selfless service to the people. He lamented the state of local governments in Imo State and what he called the abandonment of the Umudagu road which he described as an important ring road.
Ugorji said the demolition of markets in Imo State has further rendered the people poor adding that he was in politics to stop injustice.
The national secretary Prince J.I Otiji in his remark urged the new national chairman to facilitate the formal inauguration of South East executive within 14 days. While the Imo State Chairman of AGA party, Dr. Jude noted that it has not been easy making the party strong in Imo and the south East, and called on the Igbo to join the party.
