The Deputy Governorof Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere has unveiled reasons why he rejected the offer made to him to run for Owerri senatorial seat in 2019 by Governor Rochas Okorocha.
Madumere said he would go ahead to aspire for the guber race in 2019.
Madumere and Okorocha, his boss after more than 20 years fell apart after the latter choose to back his son in law and Chief Of Staff, Uche Nwosu for the Imo governorship seat.
Speaking to some stakeholders and political leaders in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State, Madumere said he will go ahead with his ambition to become Imo State Governor in 2019 with or without Okorocha’s endorsement.
He said his resolve to reject the senate offer is based on the lamentation of the people of Owerri Zone to have a feel of the governorship.
“One who is rejected cannot reject himself, I have every opportunity to accept any offer. 13 years ago I ran for Senate, If it is Senate Owerri people want I would have accepted it.
“But I want to tell you that this son has been tested, trusted have seen it all and I have a vision of where I want to take Imo state. Owerri people want to occupy Government House, and I am a good marketable product for that actualization” he stated
He said he acquired sufficient political experience over the years, urging the people of Ikeduru to join hands with him in actualizing his vision to reposition the State.
In his remarks, a former Executive Chairman of Ikeduru LGA, Chief Sam Aka expressed optimism that Owerri zone should produce the next Governor of Imo State and Madumere is very prepared for the race.
