Chief Charles Chukwudi Uba has been inaugurated as the chairman of the Board of the National Root Crop Research Institute, NRCRI, Umudike Abia State, Nigeria, inspite of alleged opposition from Governor Rochas Okorocha against the appointment.
Sources hinted Nigeria Newspoint that the governor allegedly preferred his in-law, Chief Chuks Ololo for the federal appointment but was said to have lost out as Uba was inaugurated Friday last week in Abuja.
Uba who holds the title of Akusinachi was a former member of the Imo House of Assembly where he chaired several House committees, and a former director at the Owerri Capital Development Authority among other positions he previously held.
Speaking after his inauguration, Chief Uba thanked Senator Osita Izunaso and other chieftains of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in Imo State who according to him, made it possible for him to assume office, while also thanking God for his grace.
