An indigene of Akokwa in Ideato North Local government area of Imo State and a frontline member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Uzoma Okafor Izuogu (Ozuome Akokwa) has posited that Imo State government have no plans to rebuild the Akokwa market which was deliberately demolished a few weeks ago.
Speaking to newsmen through a chat recently, Chief Izuogu who opined that from the look of things, the body language and speech of the representative of Commissioner of Market Development who came to address Akokwa leaders and stakeholders never portray the government as being serious to rebuild the market. He observed that the nothing meaningful came out of the meeting and he feared that the people will continue to suffer in poverty as a result of the demolition. He accused the Imo state government of playing with the feeling of the people and not being able to read in between the lines. According to him the people are fed up and do not trust the government again because of their insincerity. The insensitivity of the government is unimaginable and I think time to address them has come.
Chief Izuogu frowned at the sufferings and hardship Imolites are passing through due to bad governance by All Progressive Congress (APC). He went down memory lane to reveal that before the coming of APC both at the National level and Imo state, a bag of Rice sold for between N7500 and N8000 but now a bag of rice is selling for N23000. Fuel sold for N97 per litre up to April 2015 and now feel is sold at 250 Per liter. According to Ozuome, Nigerians and Imolites are passing through hell due to bad governance of APC government has done the necessary campaigns for PDP.
Ozuome posited that what the mechanics and artisans, keke operators, traders, pensioners and works are suffering in the hands of APC led government in Imo state, their prayers is for 2019 to draw nearer for them to sack this unpopular APC government. On the Imo debt profile of N93 billion, Chief Izuogu said that he was shocked by the revelation, where it was revealed that the APC led government in Imo state is indebted to the tune of more than N93 billion from the N26 billion it was in 2011. He stated that the worrisome aspect of this debt is that Imo state is one state that has been collecting monthly federation allocations, local government allocations 13% oil derivation, Paris club refunds, ecological funds et without anything to show for it. According to him the implication of the Imo debt profile is that Imo state is in bondage that will last for over fifty years and it is not a pleasant one.
Chief Izuogu reiterated that the PDP led administration in Imo State come 2019, will recover everything that the wide locust has eaten. On the alleged plans to use security operatives to rig elections in Imo come 2019, He said that he does not believe in the story because the aggrieved Imolites will rise as they did in 2011 to defend their votes and elect their governorship candidate from PDP. Chief Izuogu said that Imolites are wiser now than ever before.
