Youths under the auspices Youths for Accountability, Transparency & Good Governance in Nigeria (YATGGIN), led by its President, Comrade Ibeh Chukwuemeka at the weekend in Owerri gave kudos and pledged to support Senator Samuel Anyanwu (Samdaddy), the Senator representing Owerri zone for indicating interest to contest 2019 Imo governorship election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Rising from a town hall meeting/dialogue, the President said, the endorsement and vote of confidence became necessary ahead of the general elections, adding that one of the mandates of the group was to educate, sensitize and mobilize youths on the need to speak with one voice during any election to vote only credible candidates.
Ibeh said they are calling on the distinguished Senator Anyanwu to carry on with the bid to contest for 2019 Imo governorship, putting into consideration his achievement within a short period of time in office at the red chambers. The President said YATGGIN will continue to show solidarity and support for the distinguished Senator, because of his exemplary leadership qualities and achievements.
“We are happy he will be contesting for Imo governorship in 2019 because we are satisfied with his leadership style in the areas of accountability, transparency, and fight against corruption among others. “He will be contesting to replicate and bring the good work he has been doing at the senate,” Ibeh said. The group said that apart from Senator Samuel Anyanwu being a servant-leader, he was youth-friendly with programmes that have impacted positively on them.
Ibeh said that youths have the capacity to shape and re-organize the political, social and economic activities of the state as they constitute over 66 percent of the population. The group commanded Senator Anyanwu for an all-inclusive administration and youth-related programmes promising to mobilize more than 5000 youths across Owerri zone.
