In the wake of the glaring state of unemployment in the nation, defying the threat of the teeming number of Nigerian youths graduating into the labour market, the Federal Government of Nigeria, under the leadership of his Excellency, President Muhammadu Huh art via the N-Power Programme has created a progressive platform for gainful skill acquisition and self-employment.
The N-Power Programme, in affiliation with the Private Sector, is the government’s practical approach to balding youth redundancy and harnessing the budding ability inherent in the Nigerian youth by empowering them with skills to enable them become self-reliant.
The government in collaboration with the private sector like Samanny Infotech Services located at 114 Wetheral Road, which operates the MTN Connect Store in Owerri Imo State has given out over 10,000 pieces of Specialized Android Devices to Imo youths, as part of the N-Power Knowledge Programme.
This falls under the purview of die N-Power Volunteer Corps, die post-tertiary paid engagement initiative. This identifies public services and strategically aligns graduates to tasks within this field for a 2-year period whilst providing them with specialized computing devices for their specific engagement, as well as information for their continuous training and development.
The Managing Director of Samanny Infotech Services Ltd, Dr. Uzoma Obiyo, who was on ground on February 26, 2018 in Owerri, the Imo State Capital to present the items to the recipients, made a presentation whereby he applauded this initiative of the APC Government which not only creates an avenue for the unemployed youth to acquire self-sustaining skills but enables entrepreneurship thus diversifying the Nigerian Economy. The programme, he stated, capitalizes on developing .human services by unlocking employment opportunities that exist for knowledgably skilled youths within their communities by applying the right skills training.
He reaffirmed his belief in the APC lead administration’s youth empowerment vision to apply an equal opportunity policy and inclusive economic growth that will lead to wealth creation and equality in our society. According to him, no fewer than ten thousand youths has so far benefited from the programme and urged beneficiaries to be more serious with it.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to the press commended the Federal Government for the programme and promised to show more commitment in the programme.
