Notable personalities, patriots and good-spirited indigenes of Imo state and Okigwe zone in particular, have continued to applaud’ Dr. (Mrs.) Angela Uwakwem’s declaration of intention to contest the forthcoming House of Representatives seat for Okigwe North federal constituency.
The news of Angela Uwakwem’s declaration for the elective seat spread like harmattan fire across Okigwe North and beyond, giving tremendous joy and hope to youths, elders, members of different political parties and entire people of the area rated as one of the most thickly populated federal constituencies in the country.
Angela Uwakwem , incumbent Imo state commissioner for health and former Chief medical director of the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri, had a couple of days ago, at her birthday party; announced her intention, and readiness to seek Okigwe North People’s mandate to represent them at the lower house of the National Assembly.
The announcement was greeted with thunderous and uncontrollable ovation, a clear signal that the people are yearning for positive and effective representation at the federal level of governance.
According to the people of Okigwe North. Angela Uwakwem’s 2018 birthday celebration was accompanied with good news, the news of the woman of substance resolve and willingness to accept the challenge of going to represent her people at Abuja, come 2019.
“With Angla Uwakwem’s declaration for the federal house of reps election, our people can now sleep well at night. Already , we have heaved a sigh of relief, because, this will be the first time a woman and moreso, a lady that has done Imo State proud in public service will represent our people at the federal legislative arm of government.
Another politician and former local government chairman of Isiala Mbano local government area, Chief Tony Black Nduka in his own words, said, “Angela Uwakwem’s declaration for the house of reps is one of the best political and positive developments in Okigwe North, because, she will surly effect lots of positive change”.
Tony Black Nduka who is the director-general of Angela Uwakwem’s campaign organization, the Divine Mandate posited that Okigwe North is quite fortunate to have a woman of great honour and humility in service.
A top civil servant and supervising permanent secretary, Imo State ministry of health, Dr. (Mrs) Irene Chima who was at the Angela Uwakwem’s birthday party described her as a rare gift to mankind and one who could lift Okigwe North to greater heights.
