A high level Mbaise delegation comprising Nigeria’s former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Education, Her Excellency , Noble Lady, Professor Viola Onwiliri; former Permanent Secretary of the Federal Capital Territory, High Chief, Engr./Dr. Johnny Chukwu; Assistant Inspector General of Police Charles Ugomuoh; Exec. Director, National Examination Council Chief/Dr. Paddy Njoku, and others, February 22, at Abuja gave an enthusiastic and warm reception to his Lordship Bishop Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji, the diocesan bishop of Umuahia and the newly appointed Apostolic Administrator for Ahiara Diocese.
This took place at the sidelines of the ongoing, First Plenary Meeting of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) in Abuja.
It must be recalled, that his Holiness Pope Francis, in a recent shake up following the resignation of his Lordship Bishop Peter Okpalaeke as the Bishop of Ahiara diocese, removed Cardinal John Onaiyekan as Apostolic Administrator of the diocese and appointed Bishop Lucius Ugorji to replace him.
This reception given him by the delegation is the first by the Ahiara diocese Laity, since his appointment.
It is anticipated he will be announcing his official visit to the diocese soon, and thereafter his mission’s agenda. Suffice it to say, that the Clergy and Laity of Ahiara Diocese have been very jubilant with the recent changes in their diocese.
