Chief Uche Umeh, CEO, Uchemec Group of Companies, says the recent award he garnered from the Imo State Command of the Nigeria Police was a birthday gift.
Chief Umeh stated this when leaders of his Obodoukwu Community in Ideato North LGA called at his Owerri Mec Plaza Weekend, to felicitate with him over the award.
He said that the award was special to him, as according to him, it came when he was celebrating his 50th birthday. “So many awards have come my way, both those I rejected and those I accepted but none of them captivated my interest like this one that came from the Police”.
The Imo Police awardee who is the Nwajiugonnaya of Obododukwu Ancient Kingdom, explained that the significance of the award stemmed from where it came from and the reason why it came. He said he was grateful to God and more humbled that the Police did not honour him because of what he did in Lagos or Abuja, rather for his contribution for the protection of the lives and property of his kinsmen and women.
He thanked the people of Obodoukwu Clan and the Barr. Ben Obidegwu-led delegation for coming to identity with him, even as he dedicated the award to the people of Obodoukwu land.
The Nwajiugonnaya also expressed appreciation to CP Chris Okey Ezike of the State Police Command for considering him worthy of the honour, as well as called on corporate bodies and public spirited individuals to partner the Police in providing security.
Earlier, the President-General, Nzuko Obodoukwu Clan, Barr. Ben Obidegwu, announced that they came to thank God with him (Uchemec), for the award, which he said has brought pride to Obodoukwu land.
Barr. Obidegwu said, “Uche, Obodoukwu is proud of you because you have made Obodoukwu proud. We thank God who planted you in our land, our prayer is that God will give you long life because He has already blessed you”.
Chief Umeh’s award was a recognition by Imo Police Command for his contributions to the Force, particularly, the building of a new Police station in his Community. Apart from furnishing and procuring a Toyota Sienna for the station, Chief Umeh also gave quarters for the members of the Force detailed to serve in the new Police Station.
