The President General of Mbieri Nwaotuoke Union, Chief Fidelis Akuchie has thanked the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Akarachi Foundation, Engr. Akarachi Amadi, for facilitating the reconstruction of the Nkwo Orji-Obazu- Orie Mbieri road in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State.
The Mbieri Nwaotuoke P.G. who gave Akarachi the thumbs up during an interaction at a social event in Awo Mbieri over the weekend, also commended him for ensuring that work commenced on the road in earnest. Chief Akuchie recalled the travails the people of Mbieri in the past thirty years in trying to access or leave their homes for work or business as flood covered long stretches of the raod whenever it rained, making it impassable.
He expressed happiness that few weeks after Engineer Akarachi attracted the NDDC to reconstruct the road, the bad spots extending from Nkwo Orji to L.A. School Obazu which had defied all previous efforts by construction companies to remedy it due to four deep trenches dug on the road during the last civil war, have been effectively reconstructed and asphalted. The President General also doffed his cap for the Governor Senator Hope Uzodinma for approving the project, which made it possible for Akarachi to attract the NDDC to the community.
Responding, Engineer Amadi said he was moved by the plight of the people of Mbieri in accessing their home each time it rained and promised that the entire 5 kilometer stretch of the Nkwo Orji-Obazu-Orie Mbieri Raod will be fully reconstructed before the end of the present administration.
Meanwhile, the President General has assured traders at the Umuonyeali industrial market, Mbaitoli, that the modern toilet facility attracted to the complex by the union will soon be completed. Addressing members of the MNU executive on the stages of work on the various projects embarked upon by the Union, Chief Akuchie expressed appreciation at the cooperation and support extended to the union by the traditional rulers in all the communities in Mbieri clan. He indentified the committees assigned the responsibility of developing Mbieri as those on Education, Market Sports Emume Mbieri and the Biennial New Yam festival and urged members to justify their appointments.
